A Million Ways to Die in the West - Movie Review

A Million Ways to Die in the West - Movie Review

Duration: 2hrs
Watched: TV

I recorded this a while ago on my DVR but never got around to watching it until now. However, had I known what I was about to watch, I would not have bothered.

This opens up with our "protagonist" Albert Stark, who is a sheep farmer(yes really) out in the old western town of Old Stump. It seems harmless enough at first but it quickly degenerates into nothing substantive.

There is a lot wrong with this movie I will not lie. The plot barely exists. There is also no tension at all to resolve the non-existant plot. On top of that, the jokes are really flat. I can barely think of anything to write about, it's so bare-bones.

The dialogue is given often in very flat ways by most of the main cast. There are a few instances where characters do things that are totally against their character. The jokes are also delivered in ways where there seems to be little to no impact. I am not sure what it is lacking but nothing seems to work here at all.

Conclusion
This honestly seems like an extended episode of Family Guy. The problem is that this would also be a terrible episode of Family Guy. It is hard to take such a thin premise and stretch it over 2 hours. Overall, this movie is totally harmless. It will likely not impress anyone but at the same time it should not offend anyone. Something about this movie just does not work. It might be everything which would be why it's hard to pinpoint the issue.

Recommendation
If you are a die hard Seth MacFarlane fan you might have an urge to see it. I still recommend against it, but you can do what you want. The movie is almost totally uninteresting and unfunny. If you are morbidly curious still, consider yourself warned.
