We are back again with another installment of Koihime Musou! Our lovely heroines are back to undertake another journey with newcomer Ryuubi. Her sword and identity had been stolen during the events in the first season and she is looking to reclaim her lost weapon. Unfortunately, the sword seems to have legs and wanders from place to place. In this season we get to see actual sorcery as well as the possible birth of what we know now as musical idols!
If you watched the first season of this then you should know what you are getting yourself into. It is mostly the same format but with a little more in the way of character development. Many jokes are carried over from the first season too which adds a nice little touch of flavor. Hell, even Rin Rin's hairpin still mimics her mood! My favorite part is that they kept the randomly inserted chibi sequences intact. They make no sense but are always a pleasant little addition.
Something that really was not on my mind in the first season was exactly how big the cast for this series is in its entirety. When looking at the intro and outro, it shows every single character that has ever been in the universe and it is a staggering amount of people. Don't worry, as they are not all shoehorned into the series just for completion's sake. Many of them do not even make an appearance(for better or for worse). We do meet some new faces as well as plenty of old ones, though.
Okay, it is now time to tackle the elephant in the room. If you watched the first season, then you know there was not an abundance of fan service. Apparently they decided to disregard all safeguards and dialed up the fan service in this season to insanity. There is T&A in every episode, as well as plenty of panty shots. Just a heads up. If that doesn't bother you, then you can still get plenty of laughs out of this ridiculous series.
Conclusion
It still entertained me. I had a good amount of laughs throughout the entire series. The only thing that had me nonplussed was the amount of fan service they added. It was borderline overboard in some places. It definitely could have used a little more action too but it is what it is.
Recommendation
If you could handle the first season then it is more of that with more fan service. It is still funny with nice little moments of character development sprinkled throughout. You knew what you were getting into when you started watching it in the first place!
