Note: If you have not yet seen When They Cry - Season 1, then I suggest you do not bother reading this until you have. As with anything I write on horror, though, this will be rather brief.
Welcome back to Hinamizawa! The place where terrible things happen to nice people; repeatedly. If you are looking for more then you have come to the right place!
This second installment is in-addition-to the first. If you have not seen the first season, then stop yourself right now and watch it first.
Watched it? All right! This second season will answer a metric ton of questions that you likely have from seeing the first season. They cover so much that I am not sure anything was left unattended. If you are looking for answers, you will get them here. This is not Prometheus!
I do have a bit of bad news, though. Unfortunately, the interlacing on the discs and the frame rate being what it is, it sometimes looks really terrible when the camera pans side-to-side. I almost thought there might have been a defect with the discs until I read other people's confirmations of similar issues. Does this affect the product negatively? Of course, I wouldn't have noticed it if it didn't. However, given my love for the series I am able to quickly forget about this and immerse myself once again. Just make a note of it. It's a bit on the older side so perhaps you can forgive it?
The other bit of bad news is that this has no dub; should you want it. The first season had one but since it did poorly initially the rest were not localized in full.
Conclusion: WOW! This really had me hooked! Learning as much as I did I could not stop watching. I had to find out what happened. There's a ton of content here and the story is very well told.
Recommendation: If you made it all the way through the first season then you absolutely owe it to yourself to watch this. You will learn just about everything you wanted to know about Hinamizawa. Possibly stuff you don't want to know as well. A must watch!
